Are you happy with what you see? If you don't like where your life is headed, make changes. It is easy to become overwhelmed with family and work. Your life may seem like it is passing you by. You are in charge of where your life takes you.

Set aside some time over this upcoming weekend and reexamine where you want to be in your life, both personally and professionally. Make a list of goals you want to accomplish. Then figure out what you need to do to make those goals become reality.

If you are not happy working at your current job, ask yourself what will make you happy. If your goal is to work from home and be your own boss, make it happen. A job is not going to fall from the sky, but you can work from home if you really want to. You have to have the determination to find a work from home job. If you don't find a job you think is a fit for you, start one of your own.

Life is too short to live unhappy. Today can be the day you stand up and say, I am going to be happy. I am going to be successful. I am going to work from home and be my own boss. You have to change your attitude towards life.

If you want to be happy you have to have a positive attitude and outlook. This is not saying your life is going to be sunshine and rainbows all the time. There will always be bad days. It is how you handle the bad days that counts.

Figure out what caused you to have a bad day and learn from it. Make changes to ensure the same things do not happen again. Be in control of your life and be happy.iWorldDirecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05696028439105578493noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-375483430767679725.post-51889296535953641802009-09-25T08:14:00.000-04:002009-09-25T08:14:15.358-04:00How to Work at Home with Children
Working at home when you have small children running around can be challenging. It will be hard to answer the phone with children screaming and the TV blaring in the other room. By following these tips you will be able to juggle working at home and the children at the same time.

Teach your children when the phone rings they become silent. You can make this a game. See who can be the quietest while you are on the phone. The one that wins gets a sticker. At the end of the week the one with the most stickers gets a prize.

Have an area to work in that you can close the door if your children become too noisy. If you are trying to focus on work and your children are running and playing you will not be able to concentrate. Shut the door if you need to. There is no reason to feel guilty. Your kids will not care and you will be more productive. This is of course assuming there is someone else there to keep an eye on your children.

Have lots of activities to keep your children occupied while you are working at home. If they are busy they will be less likely to bother you while you do your work. Age appropriate crafts work great to keep kids entertained.

Hire a sitter to help watch the kids while you are working. A responsible teenager or college student could entertain your children while making sure they don't get into any trouble. This is especially important if you have little children. You will be free to work knowing your children are not going to be into something they shouldn't.

It can be a challenge to work at home with children, but it can be done with a little planning.

iWorldDirecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05696028439105578493noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-375483430767679725.post-82589607113426547522009-09-24T07:54:00.000-04:002009-09-24T07:54:56.780-04:00How to Balance Working from Home and Your Personal Life
Working from home has many benefits but there are also challenges too. One of these challenges is balancing your work life and your personal life. Some people assume just because you are working from home you should still be able to keep the house immaculately clean, and prepare gourmet meals every night for dinner. This is not the an easy thing to do while trying to keep a home business running successfully.

You have to be able to separate your home life from your job. This is easier to do when you go out to work each day. When you are done you leave and come home. The separation is clear. When working at home you have no place to leave. Your work is always there.

It is very easy to become overwhelmed with all of your responsibilities when you work at home. You still need to do laundry, clean the house, run errands, and prepare meals. You also need to be able to have enough time for your job. This is where you are going to need to learn how to balance your responsibilities.

Start by letting others help you. There is no rule that states you have to be in charge of everything. Let your spouse and children help with some of the chores. If that is not an option consider hiring someone to help you clean house once a week. You might find a teenager or college student in your neighborhood looking to earn some extra cash.

Give up the idea that everything has to be perfect. So what if your child's room is not in tip top shape. The world won't come to and end. There is only 24 hours in a day. If something doesn't get done today you can get to it another day.

Prepare meals ahead of time and freeze them. Spend a day a month making casseroles and soups that can be easily frozen. Then on days you are too busy to cook you can pull one out and throw it in the oven.

Leave work behind when it is quitting time. Plan your day and set a quitting time. Once you are through for the day do not keep working. This can be hard to do with work right there in your home. It is important to do this to keep your work and personal life balanced.

You will fall into a routine the longer you work from home. Once you give up trying to be superman or woman it will be much easier.

iWorldDirecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05696028439105578493noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-375483430767679725.post-88571824521684168922009-09-23T09:56:00.002-04:002009-09-23T09:56:16.439-04:00Limit Distractions While Working at Home Part 2Limit Distractions While Working at Home Part 2

Yesterday we discussed what happens when you let distractions interfere with your working at home. The answer was simple you get no work done. If you are not getting any work done you are not going to be successful. No work means no money coming in.

There are ways you can limit your distractions while you are working at home. Start by following a few of the tips below

Skip the personal calls. Do you have caller id? If not invest in it. You will be able to screen your calls for emergencies. If the call is not life or death skip it. You can call them back later. Get an answering machine and if the caller needs something important they will leave you a message. Spending the day answering call after call will not help you get your work done.

Stay away from Facebook and other social networking sites. If the website doesn't pertain to your work stay off of it until you are through working. Once you log onto a site like Facebook, it is very easy to waste an hour or more there. Finding out how well you remember the 80's is not going to get your work done any faster. Leave the quizzes and messaging for your free time.

Email can have good and bad points. If you get business emails then you need to check them. If your business emails come to your personal email account it is too easy to become distracted by the personal emails. If the business emails are not something that has to be read right away save them for later. It can take s lot of time to go through each email and respond if needed. Set a time each day to spend going through your email.

Don't have visitors during work hours. This can be hard when an unexpected guest drops by. Explain tot hem that you are working, but you would love to visit with them. Schedule a time when you are not working for a get together. Remember there is nothing wrong with not answering the door while you are working at home.

Learning to limit distractions while working at home can be difficult. The main focus needs to be your job if you want to become successful.

You had your breakfast, you kissed your kids goodbye as they boarded the bus, now you are prepared to spend the rest of the day working at home. As soon as you sit down to begin working the telephone rings. it is your neighbor down the street wanting to catch up on all the latest gossip. You finally get her off the phone and realize you have wasted an hour. You tell yourself you must get busy working.

Next thing you know someone is ringing the doorbell. Some women from the church are going door to door ministering. You don't want to be rude so you invite them in. Two hours later they leave. The morning is practically through and you have yet to accomplish any work.

You decide to grab lunch and then plan a busy afternoon of work. While you are cleaning up from lunch you notice the refrigerator is a mess. You say to yourself I'll just hurry up and clean this out, it will only take a few minutes, then it is back to work. An hour later you return to working. While you are working you decide to check in on your Facebook page and see what is going on. A half hour later you get back to working.

Before you know it the kids are running through the door ready for an after school snack. Where did the time go? You had good intentions of getting a lot of work done, but it did not happen that way. Does this sound like your day? If it does you need to learn how to limit the distractions when working from home.

Come back tomorrow and learn how you can be more productive each day when working from home. There are tips you can follow to keep the distractions at a minimum.

1. Did you allow your work at home business enough time? Getting a business established takes time. You are not going to become wealthy overnight. It can take a few months before you begin to see any profit. You have to give your business time to become known.

2. Did you put enough effort into your business? If you just work an hour here or an hour there you are not going to have a successful business. Starting your own work at home business requires a lot of hard work. You will have to put in lots of hours marketing and running your business.

3. Do you have a legitimate work at home business? It doesn't matter how hard you work if you do not have a legitimate business. If you paid a large upfront fee to join the business and didn't get anything for your investment you are most likely part of a get rich scam.

Don't be so quick to give up your dreams of working from home. You just have to examine what it is that's holding your business back from becoming successful.iWorldDirecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05696028439105578493noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-375483430767679725.post-40902458333340096852009-09-18T08:00:00.000-04:002009-09-18T08:00:19.694-04:00Work at Home: Try Direct SellingSales is such huge business. To find out they hire companies to send people to their business and try it out so to speak.

These people are called mystery shoppers. They will go into a business like a restaurant and have dinner. What the restaurant doesn't know is the person they are serving is really testing their business.

Mystery shoppers are given instructions to follow when visiting a business. They may be told to order or buy a certain item. They can be given directions on things to complain about. Companies want to know how their employees are handling everything from welcoming you to their business, to keeping the restrooms clean. Mystery shopping is a way for them to evaluate their place of business without the employees expecting it. They get a real look at how things run.

There are several companies that hire mystery shoppers. There are also scam companies that try and charge you to become a mystery shopper. You should never pay any money to get hired as a mystery shopper. One reputable company to check out is http://www.mysteryshop.org/ .

While you will not get rich from mystery shopping it is a great way to earn some extra cash. Plus you can get free products and meals. The mystery shopper is reimbursed for things they buy or meals. They usually make some extra cash on top of that. Pay attention to the directions you are given to make sure you understand exactly what you need to do to be reimbursed.
More and more customer service agents are answering your calls from the comfort of their homes. Companies are hiring people to work from home answer incoming customer service calls.

The trend is growing as companies are trying to cut costs. They can hire someone to work as a virtual customer service agent and not have to worry about having a call center for their employees to work from. There is flexibility when working at home as a customer service agent. You are able to choose your own hours. Most agents work anywhere from 20 hours or more a week. Some companies have a minimum hour requirement.

To become a virtual customer service agent you will need a computer, high speed internet like cable or DSL, a land based phone line ( cell phones are not acceptable, nor can you use a cordless phone), a quiet are to work, a headset that connects to your phone, and you must have a clear, pleasant speaking voice.

This is a great job for a mom that needs to be home when her kids get off the school bus, or a retiree looking to make some extra money. You won't be able to have your children playing in the background while you are taking calls though. The companies hiring virtual customer service agents expect you to maintain a quiet environment while working.

Pay will vary by company. Some customer service agents make anywhere from $7.00 and up. It will depend on your experience, how many hours you work, and the amount of calls you take during that time. Some companies also have you do up-sells to the callers. You will try to sell another product or service to the caller. if you are good at this type of sale you can make more money.

Some companies to check out if you are interested in becoming a virtual customer service agent include
Live Ops
Working Solutions
Staffing @ Home

I do not endorse any particular company. You have to research each one and see if you would be a match for what the company is looking for.
Today I am going to offer a few more ideas of things you may already be doing that you can turn into a full time job.

While some of these are not exactly working from your home, you would be your own boss.

1. Personal shopper- In today's world people are extremely busy. They do not have time to run errands. This is where you come in. Become a personal shopper for people that just don't have enough hours in the day. You can run all the errands that they don't have time to do. This type of work at home job is great for someone that enjoys being on the go. You could pick up dry cleaning or buy a birthday present for someone's mother, every day would be something different.

2. Personal chef- Do you like to cook? You could become someone's personal chef. Everyone loves a good home-cooked meal, but often do not have the time to do the actual cooking. Imagine if they could just plan out a menu for the week and have someone else prepare it for them. You could do the cooking from your home and then deliver a weeks worth of home-cooked meals. You could even offer your cooking skills for special occasions.

3. Scrap-booking- People always are taking pictures of their family and friends. Where do those pictures end up? Most of the time in a drawer or still on the camera because people are too busy to do anything with them. How great would it be if they could drop off their pictures and you create a scrapbook for them. All they would have to do is tell you what theme they are looking for and you can do something you love, making a scrapbook. Plus, you would get paid for it.
If you really want to work at home but are not sure of what type of job you could do, consider turning an interest or hobby into a full time job. Start by making a list of interests or hobbies you enjoy. Then go through the list and see what you can turn into your new work at home job. Here are a few ideas.

1. Party Planner- If you love planning events you could become a party planner. People love parties but they hate the prep work that goes with them. They would gladly pay someone else to do the dirty work for them. Plus it's lots of fun planning a party with other people's money.

2. Pet Sitter- People go away on vacation or for work and need someone to keep an eye on Fido or Tinkerbell. They really don't like the idea of having their precious fur-ball in a cage while their away so they would be more than willing to hire a responsible pet sitter.

3. Daycare- If you love kids or you love the elderly you could start a daycare. There is a big demand for both types of daycare. Many people have elderly parents that they don't want to leave along for the day, but they don't want to put them in a nursing home. Having a place for them to go everyday where they will be safely cared for would really be a huge help. The same is true for a children. Parent are always going to be needing childcare. You could even consider a daycare that accepts kids on days the weather is bad and school is canceled.

The possibilities are endless when trying to choose a work at home job. Be creative, do something you love.
Today I am going to offer you a few tips that can increase your online business sales.

Make your prices clear. Have the price of the item you are selling in an easy to locate spot. Customers do not like having to search for how much something is going to cost them.

Offer price comparisons. Customers like to know they are getting the best deal around. By having price comparisons you can show them your price is the lowest.

Test different prices. If you have everything listed ending in $.00 consider changing them to $.99 or $.95. people see the change and think it is a better deal. This can help increase you online business sales.

Have product reviews for the items you are selling. People are more likely to make a purchase if they see others have used the product and found it to be worth the money. Customer testimonials are a great way of attracting sales.

Have thorough product descriptions. Include size, color, anything that is relevant to the item. This includes pictures. If a customer doesn't know something about the product they most likely won't buy it right then.

Have a money back offer. If the customer knows they can get their money back should they not be satisfied they will feel more comfortable in making a purchase.

Offer free shipping. This is a great way to increase sales. You could offer free shipping to first time customers, or if they spend a certain amount of money they don't have to pay any shipping costs. People like free.

Have a way for customers to contact you. Customers like to know there will be someone around after the sale. Having a contact form is a way of making this happen.

Offer coupon codes. People love coupons and will feel like they are getting a better deal. The codes could be for first time customers, or you can use them to bring repeat customers back to your site.

Make sure your site is functioning properly at all times. If you have broken links when a customer tries to make a purchase they will not return to your site. Check all of the links on a regular basis. Also make sure the contact us form is working properly.

You need to have a plan. If you just quit your day job and say OK I am going to work at home you, will fail miserably. There are goals you need to set for your work at home career. Asking yourself the following questions will help you to establish your work at home goals.

1. How much money do I need to make to keep my current standards of living? You don't want to make less than you are making currently. You need to look at your monthly expenses and decide what you have to have money wise to pay your bills. We all know you want to make more money than you do currently and that is a great goal to have, but you need to know what the least amount you can make is going to be.

2. How much time do I want to invest into a work at home job? Each work at home job will require a different amount of time invested. You need to decide how much time you are willing to devote to a work at home job. Too little time and you will not be successful. A job will not run itself. Any work at home job will require you to put in time and effort. You also need to ask yourself how much time do you have to invest in a work at home job. If you have kids that are young you won't be able to devote eight hours of daytime, you may need to consider an evening job after they have gone to bed.The amount of time you want to invest into a work at home job is a very important goal to set.

3. What do you hope to achieve from your work at home job? Are you looking to supplement your current income? Maybe your spouse's income? Are you looking to completely make a living by working at home? Are you looking to work for someone else, or be your own boss? Figuring out exactly what you want can be difficult, but it is an important when setting your goals.

Once you have the answers to these questions you will be ready to decide on what type of work at home job you are interested in. Having goals will help you to become successful with your work at home job.iWorldDirecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05696028439105578493noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-375483430767679725.post-23420595540586894992009-09-09T10:09:00.000-04:002009-09-09T10:09:25.889-04:00Sites that Hire Freelace WritersHere are some online venues that hire freelance writers.

Pros and Cons

1. Pro- Online freelance sites usually pay quickly. Lots of sites that use freelance writers pay though PayPal. As soon as you finish your articles you are usually paid. Con- You can often make more money by submitting your work offline to a venue like a magazine. However, there is a longer wait to be paid by an offline source.

2. Pro-Your work is published soon after finishing if not immediately. When you write online your work is published very fast. If you hate waiting this could be for you. Con There isn't really a con to this one.

3. Pro-Your work is available for millions of people. Writing online gives you a bigger audience. Millions of people could see your work. Con- Your work has to be found by online users. Learning to write for the web can be tricky at first. With a little bit of research this can be mastered in a short time.

4.Pro-Seeing your name and work published online. Con- Sometimes sites will hire ghostwriters. These writers sell their work to the site and also the rights. The site then publishes the content under their own name. This can be hard to adjust to when you know it is your work.

Freelance writing can be a very profitable career. You can submit to online and offline venues, the choice is yours. Just be aware of the pros and cons for both.
If you do your work at home business is doomed to fail.

When you work at home you have to have a daily schedule. Your must take your work at home business seriously for it to be successful.

Here are some tips for planning your work at home daily schedule.
Photo by Hilde Vanstraelen1. Have set business hours. The hours will depend on what type of work at home job you are doing. If you will be dealing with customers you will want the normal 8-4 or 9-5 business day. If you can work whatever hours you want you may like working an afternoon or evening schedule. The main thing is to set your business hours and stick with them.

2. Get dressed each day for work. Getting dressed will put you in a better working mood. Lounging in your pajamas all day will make you feel more relaxed and less likely to want to work. You want to dress for success no matter where you are working.

3. Plan beaks and meals. Have a set time for breaks and meals. Start out each morning with a healthy breakfast. Don't skip meals or breaks. They are important to your work at home daily schedule. If you do not take a break once in awhile you can get overly tired and frustrated. Everyone can use a few minutes to clear their head now and again. Plus if you are hungry your brain cannot focus on anything besides your growling stomach.

4. Stick to your schedule. If you need to have a meeting make sure you plan it during your business hours. at the end of your day stop working. This can be hard to do if you are really busy, but it is important. You need the time to do other things. Work cannot consume your life.

A work at home daily schedule is important. You have to have a plan. If you just work whenever you feel like it you will not be successful working from home.iWorldDirecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05696028439105578493noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-375483430767679725.post-30430253284201359802009-09-04T12:29:00.000-04:002009-09-04T12:29:30.324-04:00Setting up your Work at Home Area

Once you have decided you are going to work from home you will need to create a space to do so. This doesn't mean you have to remodel your house and put in a top of the line office. You just need to create a place where you can be free of distraction and focus entirely on your work.

Here are some tips for setting up your work at home area.

1. Make a separate area to work from. Preferably somewhere that you can close the door. This will allow privacy and allow you to leave work behind at the end of the day. It is important to be able to forget about work when you are through for the day. If you have your work area set up on the kitchen table this will not be easy to do. Anytime you pass the table you may be tempted to work more. It would also not offer you any privacy if you need to escape a noisy family.

2. Be organized. Keep your work at home area organized. If your area is covered in papers you will not be able to find what you are looking for. This can cause wasted time. Keeping your work area organized will make you feel more like working and you will be more productive. No one likes setting at a messy desk.

3. Have everything you need for your work at home job handy. If you have to keep getting up to get things you need for your business you are going to waste a lot of time. Keep everything you will need at your work area.

4. Make your work at home area a place you will enjoy being. If you would make your area in a drab dark room you will not feel like being in their to work. You work area setting is important. you will spend several hours a day working, you want the area to be a place you feel comfortable. (Not too comfortable though, you do have to get some work done) A bright room with lots of light would be perfect for a work at home area.
Then they go on to recruiting others and so on. You are not going to make a living by doing a work at home job like this.

5. Any company that requires a large upfront payment. Legitimate work at home jobs do not require a large amount of money upfront. Now some work at home jobs do require some start up fees. These are to pay for products you need to run the business. An example would be if you were going to start a jewelry business from home. You would have to invest in supplies to make the jewelry.
